November Monthly 3rd Grade Newsletter
Reading
The reading logs look great! Continue to read for 20-30 minutes each night. Students need to fill out the reading log using a pencil. This is good practice for writing in smaller spaces and review of capitalizing proper nouns. It also encourages organization and the responsibility of reading every day. Parents, please sign the reading log.
This month will cover comprehension skills, vocabulary, fact and opinion, and main idea and details.
Math
Continue to practice addition and subtraction facts at home to build speed and accuracy. Make sure you check your child’s agenda for daily math homework. Please continue to support your child at home with their daily homework. During the month of November we will be starting a new unit on 2 and 3 digit addition and subtraction.
Science
The students will begin a new unit on simple machines. This unit involves some hands-on experiments that also help with the understanding of simple machines.
Vocabulary
Please study these words with your child at home. Review pronunciation and meaning of the words. We will discuss them in class and they will need to understand them for future testing. They do not need to turn these words in for homework.
