First Grade November Newsletter

We are beginning the 2^nd grading period! Here are our learning objectives for the month:

Language Arts:

· Short vowels (e, o, u)

· Verbs

· Blending sounds to make words

· Making predictions

· Patriotic and Thanksgiving literature

· Transitional words in writing (first, next, last)

Handwriting:

· Continue with forming letters correctly

· Spacing and directionality

Math:

· Geometry

· Story Problems

· Addition / Subtraction / Combinations

Social Studies:

· Patriotic Symbols

· Past and Present Timelines

· The First Thanksgiving; Pilgrims and Native Americans

Important Dates:

November 9^th-Veteran’s Day Assembly

November 11^th-No School (Veteran’s Day)

November 25^th-1/2 Day

November 26^th/27^th-No School (Thanksgiving Break)
